Exercises in space work, status shifts and spontaneity as well as performance games introduce the foundational ideas of improv. Designed for both beginning improvisers with an acting background and as a refresher for advanced actors seeking to reinforce the basics, our focus is on short form scenes with truth-telling and meaningful content stressed over humor and quick-paced entertainment.
Devoted to long form improv, this course culminates with the creation of vivid, realistic characters that are the opposite of the roles you always play. In working 180 degrees from your "go-to" character the actor stretches and evolves beyond the limits so often created by the industry and the self. Our final session will be a performance of long form scenes built from these unique roles.
